Keep Peike Free!
January 26 @ 9:00 pm
During the ‘welcome to hell’ G20-Protest in Hamburg, last July thousands of people took to the streets to protest the meeting of the leaders of the 20 most industrialised nations. The protest encountered massive police repression that started a riot.
The German state seized this opportunity to attack and criminalise autonomous structures. More than 100 people have been arrested under whom Peike from Amsterdam.
He was the first to go on trial for allegedly throwing 2 beer bottles at police officers. The prosecution demanded 1 year and 9 months. The verdict: A jail sentence of 2 years and 7 months, to set an ‘example’ and demonstrate that ‘riot tourism’ is not tolerated.
We have to show that this kind of government repression should not be tolerated. That ‘making an example’ means a human life is wasted in a police cell to make propaganda. We have to do what we can to show solidarity with the victims of this repression and to support their legal struggle.
